St. John's United Methodist Church is a congregation committed to building lives of faithfulness through service. We are willing to struggle with the difficult questions presented by life and to let the gospel challenge us to respond with thoughtfulness, compassion, and grace. We believe our faith is nurtured through worship, fellowship, service, and study. We are guided by a desire to be lifelong learners, and we celebrate the gifts each person brings to our diverse community. Together we share in the depths and heights of daily life.
As a congregation, we work to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world through a ministry that is inclusive of all. This manifests itself in our varied ministries with the struggling, the powerless and the ignored, as well as in our ministries with the more secure and empowered. Our belief that God calls us to a ministry of inclusivity and welcome for all people led us to sign our Statement of Reconciliation in 1998, when we affiliated with the Reconciling Ministries Network.

Our mission at St. John's United Methodist Church is to worship and serve God with open hearts, open arms, and open minds. To respond to this calling, we will nurture each other in the Christian faith, we will work so that all people can experience God's love, and we will examine critically and respond prayerfully to the difficult issues that face us.
STATEMENT OF RECONCILIATION
We affirm that through God's redeeming love for all, we are one in Christ. We respect the inherent and valuable contributions each member makes to the Body of Christ. We celebrate our diversity and recognize the sacred worth and dignity of all persons regardless of sexual orientation, gender, race, age, ethnicity, gender identity, physical or mental capacity, education, or economic or marital status. As we journey toward reconciliation, we proclaim this statement of welcome to all who have known the pain of exclusion and discrimination within the church. We welcome all persons to full participation in the life and ministries of St. John's United Methodist Church.
At the same time, we recognize that there remain differences of opinion among us. We do not seek to erase our differences. We welcome all in our journey together in faith toward greater understanding and mutual respect.
"ALL THIS IS FROM GOD, WHO RECONCILED US ... THROUGH CHRIST, AND WHO GIVES US THE MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION."
- II Corinthians 5:18
