University Ministries
Our university ministries are focused on developing student
leaders in the church. Opportunities abound for helping in local
church activities, e.g. providing recreational and homework
assistance to elementary students at Wonderful Wednesdays, teaching
children's Sunday School, ushering in Sunday morning worship,
planning special worship services, helping with the food voucher
program, legal clinic, Interfaith Hospitality Network (which hosts
homeless families). Students are also sponsored in Mission
Opportunities at home and abroad. We earn money for these projects
by selling parking permits for the church parking lot.
For more information about University ministries contact Daniel Echols.
Sundays
Our Weekly Gathering happens around 11:30 each Sunday after
worship. We offer a free meal to all students and enjoy some
fellowship time. We then move to our discussion, which can
cover most any topic: Scripture, College Life, Current
Issues, Relationships, Politics, Faithfulness,
etc. We begin with St. John's tradition of "open hearts, open
arms, open minds". We strive for the understanding and
practice of God's will and reconciling love. We welcome all
comments and questions in this search for joyful communion with the
Spirit of God in Christ and with each other
Wednesdays
Students are invited to the various Wonderful Wednesday programs
and are provided with a meal, courtesy of the University
Council.
